Help with pet expenses
Pets are a huge source of comfort, especially when you’re experiencing mental ill health. But pets cost money.
The USPCA have a wide range of services for people on lower incomes, including access to reduced-cost veterinary services and pet food parcels. They provide pet food packages to the Trussell Trust’s foodbanks across NI – you can pick one up with a voucher from a referring organisation..
The USPCA offer support with subsidised veterinary treatment, subject to eligibility. This includes neutering and microchipping of cats for a total cost to the owner of £10. For more information, please contact the USPCA on 02830 251000.
There are some other organisations that may be able to help with pet expenses.
- PDSA provide free or low-cost pet treatment if you get certain benefits and live in their catchment area
- The Dog’s Trust can provide free healthcare for your dog if you’re homeless or living in temporary housing
- 7th Heaven Animal Rescue Trust gives emergency pet food packages to people in financial hardship
